Melco TL/55 Flat Cranked Bead Breaker Lever – 14½″ (365mm)

Our biggest seller. A combined bead breaker and lever: one end is a beefed-up, cranked chisel with a striking face for popping the bead; the other is a tapered lever for prizing the tyre up once it is broken. The cam of the bend also helps push a bead back in when re-seating. Forged from round bar in Sheffield, fabricated and heat treated. Mostly agricultural, and a long-standing favourite of the Ministry of Defence. Strike the cranked chisel end with a hammer to break the bead, then lever the tyre up with the tapered end. Use the cam of the bend to help re-seat a bead. Mainly agricultural; also popular with the Ministry of Defence. Effectively maintenance-free. Daily use keeps it in condition; if it is left standing, wipe it down with an oily cloth to keep rust off. Nothing needs sharpening. Check for any snags or sharp edges that could tear a tyre, and never weld anything to the lever - the heat alters the steel.
