About Melco

Melco has been making commercial tyre and wheel-changing tools in Sheffield since 1921, when Thomas Meldrum founded the business. Tyre levers, bead breakers, axle stands and wheel braces — designed for the people who change and repair heavy-vehicle tyres for a living.

Our forged hand tools — tyre levers and bead breakers — are drop-forged, heat-treated and ground in our own Sheffield factory. Our axle stands are fabricated in-house. A number of items in the range, such as certain wheel braces and wrenches, are made to Melco's specification by trusted manufacturing partners.

Today Melco is a trading brand of Footprint Sheffield Ltd, the Sheffield toolmaker that continues both the Melco and Footprint stories from one factory.
