Melco TL/45 Round Straight Split Rim Lever – 19″ (510mm)

The straight partner to the TL/40. Instead of a hook, one end is forged to a square that fits the female slot on a split-rim locking ring and opens it up. Forged in Sheffield on 16mm alloy steel bar and heat treated. Same job, different locking-ring type - a steady, if lower-volume, seller. Engage the square end into the locking-ring slot and lever to open the split rim. Commercial tyre fitters working split-rim / locking-ring wheels. Effectively maintenance-free. Daily use keeps it in condition; if it is left standing, wipe it down with an oily cloth to keep rust off. Nothing needs sharpening. Check for any snags or sharp edges that could tear a tyre, and never weld anything to the lever - the heat alters the steel.
