Melco TL/100 Excavator Split Rim Lever – 30″ (770mm)

A single-ended lever built for the heavy end of the tyre trade. The hooked end opens the locking ring on a split rim; the tapered end prizes the ring off and can lever the tyre. Forged and formed in Sheffield on heavy alloy steel bar. It is a niche tool for a niche job, and it has stood the test of time where there is very little else on the market. Value is not the price. Value is the life of the tool. Hook the formed end behind the locking ring to open it, then use the tapered end to prize the ring clear of the split rim. On-site tyre fitters in quarrying, open-cast mining and road/highway construction; also fits certain bus locking rings. Effectively maintenance-free. Daily use keeps it in condition; if it is left standing, wipe it down with an oily cloth to keep rust off. Nothing needs sharpening. Check for any snags or sharp edges that could tear a tyre, and never weld anything to the lever - the heat alters the steel.
