A straight lever with a slight hook one end and a smooth, almost spoon-like end that seats into the mount/demount head of a modern mechanical tyre changer. The machine turns the wheel while the bar lifts the bead off the rim. Fully forged and chrome plated, and can equally be used by hand. This is a car-tyre tool - there are a lot of cheap copies about, so the case for Melco is price and consistency, not novelty.
Slide the smooth end into the machine's mount/demount slot. Push the bar in under the bead and let the machine turn the wheel to pull the bead off; repeat on the second bead.

Effectively maintenance-free. Daily use keeps it in condition; if it is left standing, wipe it down with an oily cloth to keep rust off. Nothing needs sharpening. Check for any snags or sharp edges that could tear a tyre, and never weld anything to the lever - the heat alters the steel.
