Melco BB/0/S Short Bead Breaker with Guard – 10″ (250mm)

The short version of the BB/0 bead breaker, 10in long. Same forged carbon steel chisel and EVA guard, but lighter and closer to the work - the length was cut down because the full BB/0 was heavy to hold up on tall vertical tyres like tractor and plant. Struck with a lump hammer to break the bead. Place the chisel at the bead/rim line and strike with a lump hammer; the shorter length keeps you nearer the work on large tyres. Commercial tyre fitters, farmers, HGV and agricultural mechanics. Wipe down with an oily cloth if left standing. The chisel face will mushroom over with heavy use, like a cold chisel - dress it back on a grinding wheel. On slide-hammer types check the welds and reinforced ends. Wear eye protection when striking metal on metal.
